Ben Hanley to join #22 Crew for Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Round of the WeatherTech IMSA SportsCar Championship

United Autosports is pleased to announce that Ben Hanley will rejoin the driver line up for the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) round of the Weathertech IMSA SportsCar Championship in July.

Hanley, a proven race winner and a staple of the United family will step into the #22 Oreca 07 LMP2 alongside Daniel Goldburg. He replaces ex Formula 1 driver, Paul Di Resta, who will be fulfilling his duties with Peugeot Sport in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) as the Canadian round coincides with the 6 Hours of São Paulo.

“Paul and Ben are two incredibly talented racing drivers who we are very fortunate to work with year after year,” says Max Gregory, United Autosports Managing Director. “With Ben stepping into the #22, we maintain the level of formidable experience and speed needed to stay at the front of this competitive field.”

Hanley, alongside his #2 co-drivers, Phil Fayer, Hunter McElrea and Mikkel Jensen, opened the Weathertech IMSA SportsCar Championship season with a 10th place finish at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. More recently, Hanley with Griffin Peebles and Grégoire Saucy secured a third-place finish at the opening round of the European Le Mans Series at the Circuit-de-Catalunya in Barcelona with a sensational redemption drive after a mechanical failure during the prologue.

The Canadian Tire Motorsport Park round remains a highlight of the IMSA calendar, known for its high-speed and challenging layout. The team will arrive in Canada, inspired by their dominant display at the 74th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring earlier this season, where United Autosports USA secured their first ever one-two in IMSA. The dream result followed a resilient recovery from early setbacks and has positioned the #22 crew as serious championship contenders.

Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen in New York state is the next round of the season in late June, which marks the return of the full four-class grid, including the LMP2 category, for the first time since March, which will set the stage for the Championship battle as the series moves into its mid-summer stretch.
