Last month, McGuire suffered head-on impact with the barrier during a test session at Motorland Aragon in the lead-up to the third round of the European endurance championship, which was initially thought to have aggravated an old injury.
Luckily, Australian racer Garnet Patterson was able to step in at the last minute, with approval for the #23 ORECA 07 to become a one-off Pro entry in Aragon, while Jim focussed on recovering for Spa (read more).
The true impact of the crash, however, was multiple broken vertebrae which Jim is now being treated for. As a result, the #23 ORECA 07 will not race in the final three rounds of the season.
