This October, Zak Brown – United Autosports Chairman and McLaren Racing CEO – will join forces with nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen (aka “Mr Le Mans”) for the Estoril Classics in Portugal.

“I am thoroughly looking forward to a weekend of racing with my good friend Zak,” says Kristensen. “Estoril is a great track, and the Capri and the 935 are two fantastic cars, so when I got the call, it was an easy yes!”

Brown and Kristensen - two formidable forces in motorsport - will share driving duties in two iconic cars from Zak’s personal collection, which are maintained and raced around the world by the United Autosports historic team.

“Tom is a legend of the sport - I’m excited to be racing with him,” says Zak. “The Capri and the Porsche 935 are two of my favourite cars and we have a good track record in Estoril following the win last year with my buddy Richard Dean. This will be my first time racing with Tom which is going to be awesome … and the goal is the same. We’re going for the win!”

The 1974 Ford Cologne Capri RS3100, which boasts past drivers including Niki Lauda, will contest the Heritage Touring Cup.

This Capri claimed two victories from two starts in the 1974 European Touring Car Championship and is one of only three works RS3100s built.

In addition, Brown and Kristensen will race the iconic blue and yellow 1981 Porsche 935 in the Classic Endurance Racing II class.

Last year, Brown took the 935 - famous for winning the Daytona 24 Hours and Sebring 12 Hours in the same year (1982) - to the top step of the podium at the Estoril Classics with fellow United Autosports team owner Richard Dean (see more).

This autumn, Zak and Tom are looking to replicate that success at Estoril Circuit on October 4-6th, in race suits featuring the same design as the United Autosports LMP2 #22 crew, who took victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year (see more).
