United Autosports USA are officially Rolex 24 at Daytona race winners, with a post-race ruling promoting the #22 Oreca 07 to the top step of the podium after a phenomenal 24-hour effort from Daniel Goldburg, Paul Di Resta, Rasmus Lindh, James Allen and the United Autosports crew.
It marks the team’s first victory in the legendary Daytona race - just seven months after winning the Le Mans 24 Hours for the second time (2020 & 2024) - and reinforces United Autosports’ reputation as one of the most successful LMP2 teams in the world.
“We came to Daytona with one very clear goal and we have achieved it,” says Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO. “To win the Rolex 24 at Daytona any year is pretty special, but to win it only a few months after celebrating victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours makes it an extra special moment. Zak and I would like to thank the entire team for their dedication and commitment. We can all be very proud of what we have achieved."
Daniel Goldburg took pole position for the #22 Oreca 07 last Thursday - claiming his first Daytona pole, his first LMP2 pole in IMSA and his second IMSA pole overall. Now, the Floridian celebrates his first victory with United Autosports USA to kickstart his second consecutive IMSA season with the team.
“The team, the drivers and I all had a similar feeling on Sunday,” says Goldburg. “We knew we should be pleased with pole and second... but we just weren’t. We had executed the race so well, made no mistakes … and then a strange penalty took us out of the fight for the lead right at the end. It took about 36 hours for me to come to terms with it, and I did ultimately feel pleased. Then I got the call to say we've won it! Wow. Just wow. What a start to the season.”
For Paul Di Resta, who brought the #22 home at Daytona International Speedway with a dramatic hunt for the lead in the final hours (read more), the Daytona win adds another legendary endurance race victory to his career record, after taking victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with United Autosports in 2020.
“It’s massive to have another 24-hour win!” says Di Resta. “We’ve achieved the two big ones in LMP2 both with United Autosports in the #22 … which is a very cool thing to say. It takes relentless dedication. We felt very hard done by on race day with the penalty – and after watching the video back, it does feel wrong. But we kept fighting, you fight all the way to the very end. It’s massive for the championship - Daniel Goldburg did a remarkable lap to qualify on pole, and now with what we’ve achieved… it’s just huge.
“I think the best thing will be when I see everyone again, the team that were involved in that race, to actually celebrate together. I’m very thankful to Richard Dean and everyone at United Autosports. It’s never nice getting handed the win a couple of days after, but that’s part of it, you’ve got to pass all the necessary tests. We put our car in a window that got us to the end of the race in a really strong position and now we’ve won, so next we need to get everyone together to celebrate!”
Rasmus Lindh - who made his debut with the United Autosports USA team at the ROAR - is now a Daytona race winner and five-time IMSA podium placer.
“Incredible!” says Lindh. “The win we had been wanting for the whole team. It’s difficult to explain this feeling … especially to win it in this way. The United Autosports USA crew is incredible - all their hard work throughout the race, never stopping. At the last pitstop when we were tight with Tower Racing they kept pushing with everything, I cannot explain it – hats off to everybody. We deserved this win … and now we’ve got it, just in a different way. Thank you team United!”
For James Allen - who was announced as the fourth driver for the #22 at Daytona - this marks his second Daytona race win (2023 & 2025) in addition to two Le Mans 24 Hour victories (2022 & 2023).
“It’s never the way you want to win … but it feels great to win the Rolex 24 at Daytona again!” says Allen. “I can’t thank my teammates enough - Daniel, Paul and Rasmus - as well as the whole team at United Autosports USA for both the opportunity and the hard work and dedication they put into this program. I’m so happy to have shared this victory with them and wish them success for the rest of the championship!”
