This weekend Zak Brown took a home-race victory at the Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion in California, crossing the line P1 in the 1980 Championship winning Williams FW07B.

The iconic Formula One car was famous for claiming five F1 victories and five podiums, winning Alan Jones the 1980 F1 World Championship title. That same car - now driven by Zak Brown, United Autosports team co-owner – celebrated victory once again this weekend, taking P2 in Race 1 and a race win in Race 2 of the Monterey Reunion.

“Awesome weekend of racing at Monterey Reunion! It’s always great to get racing at my home track, Laguna Seca – this event is one I look forward to on the calendar each year and it’s nice to have some racing during the F1 break.” says Zak Brown, “The last time I won here was in the Lola in 2015 – so, to take P2 and a race win in the same weekend was special. The team have been on top form this weekend – unfortunately, we had a some on-track issues with the Jaguar and the BMW – but overall a great weekend.”

Sadly, the weekend didn’t end as happily for the Jaguar XJR-9 and the BMW 320i, which retired early from the race weekend. The 1987 Jaguar XJR-9 retired due to a broken gearbox on the Friday while running P6 with two laps to go, followed by a head gasket failure for the IMSA 1978 BMW 320i. However, with an incredible weekend of racing at Laguna Seca in the Williams FW07B, a home-race win for Zak Brown and the first win of the 2024 historic season - it was a great weekend for the United Autosports crew.

The next event on the historic racing calendar is Estoril Classics in Portugal on the 4th – 6th October 2024. Stay up to date with the team in the meantime on social media @unitedautosports.
