- Engineering, strategy and operations support from US based company
- Race car maintenance algorithm and in-race strategy forefront of partnership
- Pre- and post-race support from front runners in AI technology
United Autosports are delighted to confirm that Valkyrie will become their official AI technology partner as they kick off the 2022 season at Sebring this weekend for the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
Valkyrie, a company that builds custom AI solutions for businesses across the world, will join United Autosports to bring cutting edge AI capabilities to their organisation to assist with all elements of the team across their multiple projects and race series.
During the first year of the partnership, the focus will be on building a race car maintenance optimisation algorithm and assisting with in-race strategy decisions. To optimise maintenance and parts distribution, the Valkyrie scientists will automate the tracking of various components needed on the United Autosports race cars and then implement an AI powered decision-making process for determining when certain parts should be used, therefore saving the team man hours, costs on parts usage, and increase on-track reliability. Valkyrie will also use machine learning to analyse the timing and scoring from years of endurance races, using classification methods to identify patterns associated with FCY’s and safety cars. Once these patterns are found, they can be turned into predications about the probability of certain events occurring during the races.
The Valkyrie branding will be prominent on the #22 Oreca 07 driven by Will Owen, Valkyrie employee, and his co-drivers Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque.
The 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship begins this weekend at Sebring, USA with the 1000 miles of Sebring race getting underway on Friday 18 March at 12:00 EST / 16:00 UK.
Charlie Burgoyne, Founder & CEO Valkyrie:
“We are very excited to join United Autosports as their Official AI Partner. We at Valkyrie are incredibly passionate about motorsports, and about how science, applied to racing, can make an impact both on and off the track and can showcase the research that our scientists have developed for our commercial and government clients. I couldn’t think of better partners than Richard, Zak, and the United Autosports team and drivers to take our next step into motorsports. The work we are going to be doing together is very cool. Solving race strategy and parts optimisation problems is something that our scientists are very excited about and I have no doubt that we can help United continue their domination in the Sportscar world. We look forward to a long-term relationship and to see Will, Filipe and Phil bring the #22 car with the Valkyrie wings to victory lane.”
Richard Dean, CEO United Autosports:
“We are thrilled to welcome Valkyrie on board for the 2022 season. Our management and engineering teams have been doing a lot of work behind the scenes with the team at Valkyrie to get the best out of our data and systems procedures as we head into another WEC season. They are some of the best in the business and I’m confident working with them off track will only improve our performance on track.”
