Former British Supersport biker and European Le Mans Series (ELMS) podium placer Josh Caygill will team up with Marino Sato and Nico Pino in the #95 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) LMGT3 entry - completing the 2024 line-up for McLaren Automotive and United Autosports.
“I am absolutely over the moon to be racing the #95 McLaren in the World Endurance Championship,” says Caygill. “This will be my first season on the world stage … and in a McLaren! I am so excited for this opportunity.”
The Qatar 1812Km will mark Caygill’s return to GT racing, with past experience including the Dunlop 24 Hours of Dubai (2014), Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup (2017) and Porsche Carrera Cup GB (2021).
More recently, Caygill celebrated two LMP3 podium finishes in the 2022 European Le Mans Series with United Autosports, and in 2023 he took pole position in a one-off LMP3 appearance with the team at the Le Mans Cup Aragon Round.
“Josh is another fantastic addition to our WEC team, completing a dynamic line-up in the #95 with co-drivers Marino Sato and Nico Pino,” says Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO. “His development with United Autosports over the past two years has been clear, celebrating a pole position and podiums along the way, and I know he will give his full focus to this new challenge in partnership with McLaren Automotive.”
The bronze driver, hailing from Yorkshire in the UK, will race in destinations around the world from Texas to Japan, Brazil to Bahrain.
“Thank you to Richard [Dean] and everybody else who has helped me reach this point in my racing career. I have fantastic co-drivers in Marino and Nico, and an incredible team behind me. I’m going to give it my all.”
