Single-seater star Gregoire Saucy and WEC podium placer Marino Sato have signed with United Autosports, racing partner of McLaren Automotive, for a second consecutive season in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2025 - subject to confirmation of entries by the ACO.
In 2024, Swiss racing driver Saucy - known for his single seater accolades, including the 2021 Formula Regional European Championship title and multiple podiums in the FIA Formula 3 Championship (2022 and 2023) - achieved three fourth place finishes with United Autosports in the #59 McLaren LMGT3 EVO, narrowly missing out on a deserved first podium in his debut sportscar season.
“I am very happy to continue this adventure with McLaren and United Autosports,” says 24-year-old Saucy. “This year, we have made a lot of progress together from the beginning to the end of the season, with good results including fourth place three times. It was an incredible experience to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time, and many other new tracks around the world. I'm looking forward to getting back in the car for the next season.”
In the sister #95 McLaren LMGT3 EVO, Japanese driver Sato - who claimed the European Le Mans Series LMP2 vice-championship title with United Autosports on his debut sportscar season in 2023 - is set on building momentum after celebrating his first WEC podium, taking third place at the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo earlier this year.
“I want to thank every single member of the team, everyone who is supporting me and working with me to make this happen, and especially to Richard [Dean] for his trust,” says 25-year-old Sato. “I’m very excited to continue our journey together in the WEC for a second season, and my third season as a member of the United Autosports team. We’ve shown strong progress through 2024 and in 2025, we are working to win. I cannot wait to start the program.”
Over the course of nine months, from Qatar to Bahrain, United Autosports and McLaren Automotive secured pole position, the first front row lockout in WEC LMGT3 history, a podium in Sao Paulo, seven top five qualifying results and nine top 10 race results – with Saucy and Sato playing active roles in progress achieved over the season.
“Gregoire and Marino are extremely talented racing drivers and incredibly valuable members of our team,” says Richard Dean, United Autosports. CEO. “Their work and time this year, both in and out of the car, has been hugely important in the development of the WEC project with McLaren Automotive, so it is fantastic to have them onboard for what is set to be a very exciting 2025 season.”
Sato and Saucy are the first two names to be revealed in the 2025 United Autosports and McLaren Automotive WEC line-up. Stay tuned for more announcements on social @unitedautosports.
