- Team owners, Zak Brown and Richard Dean, to enter third McLaren 570S at Spa Francorchamps for United Autosports
- Car #230 to enter in Am class for round four of 2021 season
- Return to GT racing for McLaren F1 CEO, Zak Brown
United Autosports are delighted to confirm that team owners, Zak Brown and Richard Dean will enter the fourth round of the GT4 European Series at Spa Francorchamps, next weekend.
After the sad passing of McLaren’s long-time shareholder and friend, Mansour Ojjeh last month, Zak and Richard withdrew from their entry at Zandvoort, with Zak heading to Paul Ricard to lead a memorial for Mansour and his family. They will now make their return to the race track in Belgium alongside United’s two regular line ups of Bailey Voisin, Charlie Fagg, Gus Bowers and Dean Macdonald.
Zak and Richard are excited to be racing the 570S at Spa Francorchamps, having had previous success at the Belgian track. In the first year of United Autosports' racing career in 2010, the team scored a third-place finish in the GT3 category at the Total 24 Hours of Spa.
This will not be the first time Zak has raced behind the wheel of a McLaren GT car, having driven a McLaren MP4-12C GT3 in the Blancpain Endurance Series in 2012 and the British GT Championship in 2013, alongside Alvaro Parente. At the end of 2012, Zak and Alvaro won the final round of the British GT Championship for United Autosports. Since then, both Zak and Richard have focused on their historic racing entering race events around the world.
Zak Brown:
“I am really excited that Richard and I still have the opportunity to race the McLaren 570S in the GT4 European Series, and especially around Spa Francorchamps. The track is awesome and as team owners we have had some great successes here, so hopefully we can get the same results as drivers this time.”
Richard Dean:
“I am looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the McLaren 570S GT4 car. It has been a while since I raced a modern car around a track, so I am even more excited that it can be at Spa Francorchamps which is such a famous circuit. Our two regular entries, driven by Bailey, Charlie, Gus and Dean are doing a great job for the team and myself and Zak look forward to joining them and representing United Autosports next weekend.”
