- United Autosports extends Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup lead
- Two podiums moves Breeze up to second place in Drivers’ title race
United Autosports extended its Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup Teams Championship points advantage when Carl Breeze and Luke Davenport combined to achieve six top-eight race results in the three latest races at Snetterton this weekend (2-3 August).
Breeze, who has now scored nine podiums in the last 11 races, has moved up from fourth to second in the Drivers’ standings while Luke Davenport remains sixth.
Qualifying was disappointing for both Breeze and Davenport, neither driver happy with their car’s handling, restricting them to third and fourth row starts but Carl and Luke came through to register third and seventh places in race one on Saturday. Breeze, who moved into third place on the penultimate lap, clocked the best maximum speeds of the entire field in the final two sectors while Davenport set his personal fastest time on the seventh and final lap.
Race Two early on Sunday morning saw Breeze crucially grab second place off the line at the start before successfully fending off Tom Oliphant for much of the 12-lap race – the result moving Carl in to second in the Drivers’ standings – while Davenport was on the back of a four-car dice for fourth place early on and ran eighth throughout – setting the sixth fastest lap of the race.
Another second row start for “local man” Breeze in the third and final race saw him challenge for the lead at the first corner but ultimately found himself ninth at the end of the opening lap after contact with Charlie Robertson as the pair fought over second place sending Carl onto the grass and into a half spin.
Breeze recovered brilliantly to claim fourth at the chequer. Meanwhile Davenport was up to fifth from the fourth row, dicing for third place in the early stages, and ultimately took a deserved sixth place.

“In terms of the championship and moving up from fourth to second in the standings, the weekend has been good. I was pleased to come through from fifth on the grid to get on the rostrum again in Saturday’s opening race which earned me a second row start for the first race on Sunday in which I finished second after a good start off the line.
“I was determined to go for the win in the third and final race which resulted in me getting pushed onto the grass on the opening lap but I managed to claw back some places. It’s been a good points haul despite the lack of outright pace.”

“It’s been a very frustrating meeting from start to finish for me. Qualifying was disappointing due to me struggling in sector three and I could only manage a fourth row start. We made set-up changes to the car overnight which made a slight difference – my individual sector times were okay but I couldn’t hook a complete lap up. A disappointing weekend but hopefully I can turn it around for Knockhill.”
Richard Dean, Team Owner and Managing Director, United Autosports:
“After scoring two wins in the previous rounds at Croft, I’m a little disappointed that we haven’t scored a victory this weekend. Qualifying didn’t go well for either car but we’ve recovered to claim two podiums. Carl is up to second in the Drivers’ standings while Luke is learning all of the time and scoring steadily. But we need to bounce back to winning form at Knockhill.”
