United Autosports are delighted to welcome Austin McCusker to their IMSA LMP3 team for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen.
The American racing driver, who won the 2019 IMSA Prototype Challenge LMP3 Championship, will join United Autosports as they make their LMP3 debut in the US at Watkins Glen. Austin is currently racing in the European Le Mans Series in the LMP3 class, having made his debut in the series earlier this year. In 2018, Austin finished second in the IMSA Prototype Challenge and has raced successfully in single seaters in America before moving into sports cars.
Austin will race a Ligier JS P320 alongside Niklas Kruetten and Edouard Cauhaupe in the six-hour race held on Sunday 27th June. United Autosports will also be running their Oreca 07 LMP2 car for Jim McGuire, Wayne Boyd and Guy Smith at Watkins Glen.
Austin McCusker
“I am very excited to join United Autosports for the upcoming Watkins Glen six-hour race. It is one of the most iconic endurance races in the world and as a New Yorker, it’s my home race. I would like to thank Zak Brown, Richard Dean and United Autosports’ partners, as well as my own, for their faith in me and I will do all I can to finish on the top step with my teammates next weekend.”
Zak Brown
“I’m pleased Austin has completed our LMP3 line up for Watkins Glen. It is a strong line up so I’m hopeful of a good result.”
Richard Dean
“I’d like to welcome Austin to the team for Watkins Glen. He is the perfect addition to the team as we make our LMP3 debut in America. He has the knowledge of the track and the car and is a former IMSA champion, so I’m sure his input will be valuable for the team and Niklas and Edouard.”
