The United Autosports historic motorsport department is gearing up for a busy end to the 2021 season with a number of events coming up over the next month.

The team begin their busy month by entering two cars into the Estoril Classic once again with Martin Brundle joining Zak Brown behind the wheel of the 1974 Ford Cologne Capri and the 1989 Jaguar XJR-10. Both cars have been restored and prepared for the event by United Autosports ahead of the Portuguese event, which Zak entered last year, alongside Dario Franchitti. The Cologne Capri is one of only three Ford Cologne Capri RS3100s built and scored two victories out of two starts in the 1974 Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (DRM). The Jaguar XJR-10 was campaigned in the IMSA championship for three seasons by the Tom Walkinshaw Racing Jaguar Team. They finished second in the IMSA GTP standings, while the following year the distinctive white, green and red Castrol sponsored V6 turbo-engined Jaguar finished in the top-10 on eight occasions, including a win at Lime Rock Park. The car scored its final IMSA GTP race win in Miami in 1991.

The following weekend, the team will be attending the Goodwood Members Meeting with the 1991 McLaren MP4-6, displaying the car for one of their customers. Needing no introduction, this car was raced in the 1991 Formula One World Championship, with Ayrton Senna winning what would be his last championship title.

The final historic event of the year for United Autosports will be the Velocity Invitational, which will see the team travelling stateside once again to Laguna Seca in California with the 1980 Williams FW07, the 1984 Lancia LC2, the 2012 McLaren MP4-27A, and the McLaren MP4-98T two-seater.

All United Autosports historic motorsport activities are run from the same workshop as their modern-day race events. All housed under one roof, the team has access to specialist equipment and the skilled personnel to restore and maintain some of the best examples of historic race cars in the world. Their workshop also houses all their race transporters and containers, used to travel the historic cars and equipment in their care worldwide.

Calendar Dates:

9-10 October – Estoril Classic, Portugal

16-17 October – Goodwood Members Meeting, Goodwood, UK

11-14 November – Velocity Invitational, Laguna Seca

Zak Brown:

“I’m really excited for the next month for the United Autosports historic motorsport department. The team have worked really hard over the last few months to get all these different cars ready for the various events, so I’m pleased to be able to showcase them at some of the best historic events in the world.”
